It’s hard to believe that we’re only three months away from the home stretch – completing year one with little Kaiju. She was a bit of a late bloomer, but in this month alone, she’s shown so many changes and mastery of certain motor skills. Just a few days before the 9 month mark, she surprised me by standing unassisted. It was very brief, barely for a second, but I cheered so much! I’m very happy to see all of the milestones. She’s currently got 2 and ½ teeth, with more peeking through!
In Month 8 we headed Down Under and had lots of fun in the sun in Brisbane and Gold Coast. A post shared by Tokyo Mama Baby Drama (@iambabykaiju) on Sep 22, 2017 at 5:11am PDT Our last full day in Brisbane was memorable only because little Kaiju had terrible teething pains. And her “kaiju” nickname certainly suits her more and more each day. She’s a destructive, sassy whirlwind! I’m amazed at all the little and big things she can do. Here’s 8 baby milestones she’s accomplished:
Month 7 with Baby – My Toothless Wonder Well, well, well… At 7 months old, my little kaiju is inching her way towards the one year mark! It seems like every day she picks up a new skill- there’s no limit to what she can do! Month 7 with baby was full of accomplishment and frustrations from both of us.
Month 6 with Baby – Month 6 with Baby – WTF Am I Being Punished? The first week of month 6 with baby coincided with our return to Japan. Since we’ve returned, she’s been in kaiju mode nearly everyday. Maybe it’s the jet-lag or coming back to an extremely humid place, I don’t know.
Month 5 with Baby – I Think I Love My Husband Baby is now five months old! I’m impressed with all the things she can do. Still, I spend nearly every day in shock because I’m used to the newborn stage. Every time she does something new, I think, “Are you advanced or is that just something all babies can do in month 5 of life?” In month 5 I have new perspectives on being a mom. I feel much more positively towards my relationship with my husband. On the other hand, I’m feeling a set of new professional and personal challenges.
Month 4 with Baby – I Think I Hate My Husband May went by easier than the first three months but gave me a new set of challenges, not to mention my first bout with mastitis. The challenges I’m really talking about are my relationship with my husband and myself. There’s an idea that mommy bloggers sometimes are just too personal, too real –selfies with tired eyes and bed head or proudly showing off their nursing positions and expressed milk. Writing too truthfully about their labor experience, postpartum blues/anger, and sex after baby.
Month 3 with Baby – Finally I Can Smile After all I’ve experienced with baby, I really felt a return to normalcy in April. My mother-in-law even during a phone call commented on how cheery my voice was. I didn’t take her comment lightly. I appreciated that she recognized my struggle and helped me in my first month by coming to Tokyo. Of course, everything isn’t perfect, but I am definitely starting to feel like myself, more than before.
Month 2 with Baby – I Think I Know What I’m Doing Baby now weighs 5.2kg and is 55.9cm! It’s surreal that all she drinks is breast milk and still she’s grown so much! Two months in, our daily routine has become stabilized, so much that I don’t need to rely on a clock at times. I always know when it’s 9:30am or 4:30pm because that’s when we go for our walks, and that’s exactly when she becomes fussy. Baby loves going for her walks in the stroller, and I love being out of the house. It’s spring, the cherry blossoms are beautiful, and the sun feels so good on my… Read More Month 2 with Baby – I Think I Know What I’m Doing
Month 1 with Baby – This is Only the Beginning Baby is finally one month old! I (somehow) survived the first month with her! Though I survived, it was a truthfully stressful February. I know there’s this mother/daughter-in-law don’t get along thing (嫁姑問題 yome-shutome mondai), but I get along fine with mine. She even came to Tokyo for one month to help with chores and to do cooking. But even then, with the extra hands, I was always irritated. Like, I’d go into the cabinet for a cup or something, and everything would be in a different place. Anything my husband said or did just put me over the edge. “Did I… Read More Month 1 with Baby – This is Only the Beginning
